Celebrating the life of
Dorothy Y. Skipper
October 26, 1926 - July 02, 2012
DOROTHY DOT YAGER SKIPPER
Dot was born on October 26, 1926 in Jacksonville, Florida to William T. Yager and Lucille Evans Yager. The family soon moved to Savannah where Dot remained as a life-long resident. One of Dot's treasures was the multitude of special relationships she shared as far back as grammar school and many lasting until her passing.
Dot attended St. Vincent's Academy and The University of Georgia, where she was a member of Tri Delta Sorority.
She married her high school sweetheart Henry T. Skipper Jr. in 1946 and they remained faithfully married for 62 years until Henry's passing in 2008. Dot and Henry are survived by their three children, Henry T. Skipper and his wife Jan, Thomas W. Skipper and his wife Fran and Nancy Berry Bayless and her husband Hal. Dot's deep devotion to her husband, children and grandchildren defined her life. Her warmth and kindness enriched both family and friends.
The entire family will forever fondly remember the holiday gatherings at Dot and Henry's home and on their dock. Summers spent at Tybee Island were especially rich in forming cherished memories of laughter and fabulous food, provided mostly by our talented "mom". Those memories will last a lifetime for us all.
Dot's Christian faith was central to her life, which will continue in eternity. She was a longtime member of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Ascension.
Besides Dot's three children and their spouses, she is survived by 6 grandchildren Kappi, Turner, John, Ashley, Albert, and Clark and 5 great grandchildrenCamy, Brian, Celia, Wynn, and Cate.
The service will be held graveside in the Greenwich
section of Bonaventure Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July the 5th.
Remembrances: The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Ascension, 120 Bull St., Savannah, GA 31401.

I only met my aunt Dot in person once at my grandmother's her sister Harriet Morris funeral. I always remember her calling when I was a little kid and I couldn't wait to tell her all about my adventures from that day. She certainly was a sweet lady and I'm sad I didn't get to know her a little better. My father Tym Morris and I send my best to the rest of the family.

I have very early memories of this truely wonderful woman - Growing up next to the Skippers on 45th street, Dot and Henry would have me over for cookies. Both were such great friends with my parents through the years! Dot will be deeply missed but wonderful memories of her and Henry will remain with all of us. Thoughts and prayers for you and your families from the Grangers!

Dear Skippers, What a grand lady. She had such a wonderful wit and spirit. She has been greatly missed along the Creek and in the neighborhood. She is now with Henry again in God's house. I suspect they are once again enjoying the dockhouse, that is when H.T. returns from fishing, each day. Time marches on, but we never forget characters like H.T and Dot. We are out of town and will unfortunately miss the memorial service. Our thoughts and prayers are with you guys...

Nancy and family, My heart goes out to you on your mom's passing. Although it has been quite a while since I have seen her, I will always remember her sweet smile and graciousness. She was a true southern lady. Blessings to you and your family.

To the Skipper Family The Board of Directors of the 8th Air Force Historical Society and our membership want to express our sincere sympathy to your family during this difficult time. Please know that we are keeping you in our prayers and thoughts. When I read that Mrs. Skipper was a member of Tri Delta it touched my heart, as I was also a Tri Delta at the University of Arkansas. The Tri Delta creed is that 'We steadfastly love one another'. In reading the comments made by your family, it is quite appearent that her life was a true reflection of this motto.
